CREATIVE ARTS AND CRAFTS


WRITING CREATIVELY

Pre-accredited writing class, where students will enhance their skills in a fun and supportive environment. There is an emphasis on personal stories, characterization and structure. Students will explore writing in various genres and formats. These include writing for children, poetry, short story, novella, opinion pieces and performance writing.

Works in progress will be reviewed in a constructive atmosphere to bring out the very best of your talent. Students are informed of various writing competitions throughout the year and everyone is encouraged to enter. This offers the student the chance to complete several projects to a high standard and test their work in the broader writing community.

MEMOIR WRITING

Everyone has a story to tell. This supportive memoir writing group assists and encourages members to do so in a safe and friendly environment. Members read and discuss historical and personal events from their own point of view. They may with so write a memoir for their family, or to publish for wider distribution. B.Y.O. paper and pen.

CALLIGRAPHY

Learn the Art of elegant and graceful scripts in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Basic penmanship or develop your skills further through examining and practicing handwriting from the Renaissance through to Copperhand Plate developed in the 16th century.

CUPPA ROUND THE TABLE

An informal social time for people to come together ‘Round the Table’. Share your time with others over a cuppa bring your craft to finish in a friendly, social environment. Would suit those with an interest in starting a knitting or crocheting group.  This is a self-lead group.

KNITTING & CROCHETING

With winter chills here, now is the time to think about your knitting and crocheting.

Don’t know how but would like to learn, then this is the class for you. Class will suit beginners, but if you’re already on the way then come along and join us, the more the merrier.

Wool, knitting needles & crochet hooks will be available as will patterns.

Classes will be held Monday 10:00am - 12:00pm

WATER COLOUR PAINTING

This class suits beginners to work at their own pace and develop their own individuality whilst at the same time this class will suit those with experience. Learn the various techniques used in water colour painting in a friendly environment. Students to supply own materials. Class list available on enrolment.

PEN & INK (WASH)

Discover the wonderful versatility of ink as a creative medium. Learn how to apply ink with confidence, controlling where you place it but also allowing it to run across the page in swathes and bleeds, adding new dimensions of interest and beauty to your work.

Coloured inks will be used as well as black.

ACRYLIC & WATER BASED OIL PAINTING

This class is for beginners and those with some experience. Students are taught in an informal environment using acrylic and water based oil paints. Your choice as to which you prefer.

Students to provide own water based oil paints.

If using the House acrylic paints and brushes an annual fee of $15 is payable on enrolment.

DRAWING

Have you thought of drawing or sketching before? Would you like to know how to use various drawing materials such as pencil, charcoal and pastel?

Guided in a series of drawing exercises to help you develop your right brain skills. Learn to ‘see’ by exploring observational techniques and still life exercises.

 Broaden your understanding of the artistic and technical aspects of art through a study of drawing skills including shading, perspective, negative-space, tone and colour. Previous drawing experience not essential. A Meditative & relaxing environment.

Bring to first class a sketchbook, 2B & 6N pencils and charcoal.
